Powerlifting
Powerlifting is governed by the International Paralympic Committee and has only one discipline, which is the bench press. Athletes compete with identical rules as bench–pressing for able bodied competitors. Both men and women compete in open competition and there are special additions for amputees to compensate for body weight.
Classification
The sport is open to anyone with a minimum level of disability who can extend their arms within 20 degrees of full extension during a lift. This includes people with spinal cord injuries, amputees and people with cerebral palsy.
