We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to lead our after-school sports programme for children with disabilities. The group consists of children aged 5-12 years with a wide range of physical, intellectual and visual impairments.
The Afterschool Inclusive Sports Club is based on developing fundamental movement skills through the introduction of structured play within different sports and activities.
Role: Junior Inclusive Sports Club Coordinator
Location: Pt. Chevalier School
Hours: 2 hours of delivery and coordination each week (for 6 weeks/term)
With the help of our core volunteers, you will plan, deliver and coordinate 6 consecutive weekly sessions within each of the 4 school terms. Sessions are based at Pt. Chevalier School on Tuesday afternoons, 3:30pm – 4:15pm. You will work approximately 2 hours each week on delivery and coordination, with an additional 2-3 hours of planning prior to the start of each term’s programme. A remuneration package per term will be provided.
Previous coaching experience and a strong understanding of fundamental movement skills is preferred. Whilst experience working with young children and/or those with disabilities is preferable, the ideal candidate needs to be adaptable, forward thinking and be passionate about helping young people with disabilities take part in physical activity. Disability and inclusion-specific training and advice can be provided to the right candidate. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and knowledge for someone wishing to pursue a career in sport, teaching or working with people with special needs.
